Speaker of the Year Competition – 2018
The Arthur Garvey speaker of the year competition, which has operated since 1957, is Rostrum WA’s major annual speaking competition. It is open to all Rostrum WA members from all clubs and involves a series of heats in the week commencing 8 October and semi finals in the week commencing 29 October. The final will be on 24 November.
The 2018 has 6 topics, one of which entrants select to speak on at both their heat and semi final, with have a maximum time of 10 minutes with a warning bell at 8 minutes, as follows:
- A kind of wisdom
- Coming home
- One good man
- Under the influence
- Wait
- Where there’s smoke
